Exciting news. I have just bought the domain name flowerghosts.com. I shall be spending the next few months moving🥳💥
Honesty

A few years ago I scattered some honesty seeds outside my studio. The next spring, the beds were full of purple stems. I covered tiny scraps of silk with the flowers and made ribbons. This year there are only one or two plants left.
This is the first pounding of 2024 onto muslin. The purple always shifts into blue on the cloth.
Smoke Bush (Cotinus)

The Smoke Bush blooms in May. It is a versatile plant to print with and is effective even when the tiny yellow/coral flowers have fallen away. This print is taken from the plume when only the stamens hang on to the stem. They print such a deliciously stark inky black and have a surprisingly long life for a fugitive dye. I always think they look like birds feet trailing along the trellis of tiny stems.
Flowerghost Pocket Book

This little book is a new addition this Spring. It is a window into my world and in less than 30 pages gives an overview of all the styles you can achieve when you use Tataki Zome.

A Site for Sore Eyes

Dear Readers,
This site has been long in the imagining. Part portfolio, part marketing strategy, and part dissemination tool for workshop leaflets, it is a delicious cocktail of inspiration and creative camaraderie that will consolidate all the disparate threads of the Restless Rose brand as it evolves with me.
If, like me you love words, ideas, art, creativity, old broken notions, textiles and flowers, then you will want to explore further.
In the meantime, I am having immense fun designing, building and writing this site to share with you (I am especially enjoying the title of this feature). Ultimately I hope to create an intelligent, sleek, beautiful and informative space for my work and frankly anything vintage and floral. If you are passionate about the former, have a peak at the first draft of my vintage crown story in the menu above. If you are committed to sustainable textiles, traditional dye processes and the skills of a twenty second century artisan, then see how Flowerghosts was born.
have a great week,
Restless Rose
